CD Snobs is the brainchild of Richard Vance, and it's a part of a greater insanity called The Thirteenth Dimension.
If you happen to have a font that goes by the name Futura Lt BT installed on your computer, then you have achieved a little something I like to call The Ultimate CD Snobs Experience.
The more you read here at CD Snobs, the more likely you are to find references to something called whambam. This might leave you wondering what exactly I'm talking about. And it is difficult to define in precise terms; my hope is that a magical combination of the context and the onomatopoeia of the word will help you build your own sense of the word. If that doesn't work for you, just think of it as an ingredient in music that makes it transcendingly great. You know, like artificial raspberry flavoring. Whambam is like artificial raspberry flavoring for music.
CD Snobs began as an international house of original music criticism, but it has changed over time to something else that's less easily defined. The focus of this site is now on lists that shed light on the highlights and the relationships that can be found in the good music of the present and the great music of the past. Some of the lists are lists of songs. Others are lists of albums. There are lists of artists as well. No matter what type of list it is, hopefully each list will shed light on its subject in a new or interesting way.
